Act of War Wiki
DA Ingame USMarine CapturePOW

A U.S. Marine capturing one AK-74 soldier.

A prisoner of war (POW) is a person held in custody by an enemy.

In Act of War, POWs can be captured by certain infantry units and will reward $500 upfront to said player. If an interrogation center (Field Intelligence Center, Field Hospital, Field Prison Camp) is built, POWs will be placed in that structure (if any empty slots are available) and will generate credits at a rate of $50 every second for each additional one, being the only source of renewable income. Each faction has an upgrade that increases the chances of POW generation (Close Quarters Battle capture training/Non-lethal fighting training/Terrorist hostage capture training) and another that deducts $250 from the unit's owner when their units are taken prisoner (CIA bank account freeze/Account hacking/Hostage ransom demands). Prisoners can be exchanged to briefly reveal a small area anywhere on the map. For balancing reasons, infantry teams (Mortar squad/Objective Crew Served Weapon/Kornet missile) will only yield one POW per unit, despite them consisting of two personnel each.

Infantry units can be captured if they are severely injured. Various vehicles and structures may spawn non-combatant personnel that can also be captured. They can slowly run away and will award $250 to their original owner (increased to $500 with World media support for US Army) once they return to either an interrogation center or headquarters under the same player's control.

In High Treason, it is possible to disable Prisoner spawns in a match.
